Dusky - Stick By This
Something a little different this week, a track that deserves this spot for its production value and sensational complexity. This track is actually at a cruisey 118BPM and is the creation of the boys from Solarity producing under their new progressive moniker. Stick By This is a melodic masterpiece, incorporating some very interesting samples and beautiful strings. If you like the sound of this, I'd recommend checking out the album of the same name, which contains an impeccably diverse range of...
Henrik Christensen - New Life (Jorn van Deynhoven)
It's been two years since we've seen much from Henrik Christensen and he is back with a beauty! This track has one of those instantly catchy melodies and some synths that threaten to sweep you away. 'New Life' is a reach-for-the-lasers uplifter that won't disappoint, especially with the Jorn van Deynhoven remix bringing high energy and a deeper bass to the original.
Moonbeam feat.Avis Vox - Hate Is The Killer (Arty Remix)
This is amazingly fresh and strikingly emotive. It launches with a breakbeat and a really tough bassline before the female vocals of Avis Vox kick in. The vocals are haunting and powerful. The bassline is layered with trance synths that build and build. The breakdown begins with strings and vocals, with the strings building to a peak before dropping into a full 4:4 kick beat and the full blown synth lead and bass. It's very powerful. Awesome early night peak to your set and great way to...
Castaneda - Floor Control (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix)
Take one of the best classic driving and melodic trance tracks and give it to one of the best current driving trance producers, and what you get is something special. Giuseppe's remix of Floor Control is pure driving and emotive bliss. Floor Control's epic yet understated and simple melody shines through like in the original, but everything else is punchier and more driving. A classic with a modern sound. Not many melodies come close.
Mark Eteson - Blackboard (Jon O'Bir Remix)
Absolutely stunning melodic and uplifting trancer with a lush breakdown and intricately detailed percussion and bass. The combination of Rob 'Activa' Stevenson and Jon O'Bir in the production booth is nothing short of amazing. When the lead melody kicks in at the breakdown, you know this tune is 100% win.
DJ Govenor - Pale Memories
Stunning melodic trance with a haunting and powerful melody. Kicks off with crisp percussion and stabby effects. Soon more trancy stabs are added in along with some haunting pads to lead into the break and build tension. The breakdown drops into a smooth synth driven filtered lead. It then fully opens up into a huge layered synth arp. The melody is both uplifting yet dark. The drop is insanely good with a huge kick into the bass line and melody. Great, unique, peaktime melodic trancer.
Jorg Zimmer - Forgotten
Quality, progressive trance with a melodic tip. Starts off with pure percussion, before dropping in the stabby bassline and simple, yet haunting pad line. Light trance plucks are layered over the introduction as the pads slowly intensify. The plucks build in volume up to the breakdown. There's no real bassline progression. This is subtle, pure progressive trance done right. The breakdown shifts the pads a little, but while the pluck from the intro becomes the lead. Tension is built nicely...
Parker & Hanson - Alquimia
Deep, progressive, melodic trance. A mixture of house and trance elements fused together to create the perfect opening tune for any quality trance set. Kicks off with some tribal percussion, before layering in some smooth, warm trance stabs. During the intro, a warm pluck arp builds as atmospheric pads are layered in. The breakdown kicks off with haunting female vocal grabs and muted pluck stabs which finally become rather techy as the filter opens up. The drop slams back into the kick,...
Impulsive Drive - Another Way
Pure trance done right. Middle of the range 135bpm melodic trance with crisp percussion, emotive plucks and lush pads. Kicks off into a unique bassline and builds with subtle trance plucks. More synth layers are introduced as the bassline begins to progress. The breakdown is minimal, with a short break long enough to introduce a detailed arp synth that continues through the main section. No cheesy build ups, just continuous lush melodic goodness. Melodic trance the right way.
Origene - Sanctuary (Gafry & More Remix)
Deep, rolling vocal prog trancer (houser?). Launches with a rolling bassline and haunting vocal effects. Soon the main vocals kick in. They work really well and don't feel cheesy. Next up, some lush trance plucks roll in, followed by more vocals. The breakdown is minimal. This tune is more about constant drive. A perfect early night track to build mood and tension.
