Tunes Of The Week #4
By Pendulum, posted February 04, 2010
Another week, another dose of the finest tunes from around the world. This week, plenty of big uplifting numbers to keep your hands in the air!
TUNES OF THE WEEK #4
Not quite as many tunes this week as in previous weeks, but still some nice releases. Standouts include The Stoneface & Terminal Remix of Tritonal's Suede as well as Tiesto's latest Allure single, Ever Enough, which is a true return to form for the man. Check out the tunes and descriptions below!

Stuart Donaghy - Haze
label: Abstract Recordings
128bpm, key 2A
A deep yet driving prog trencher with big pads that build right into the breakdown. The breakdown is epic, big strings section which builds and builds before dropping back into the beat and some truancy plucks.
Tritonal - Suede (Stoneface & Terminal Remix)
label: Garuda
134bpm, key 1A4B
Starts with just percussion, and slowly adds a smooth baseline but remains fairly minimal until the breakdown. Subtle pads and synths intro the breakdown. Big truancy stabs slam in out of nowhere and let loose a strong melody before dropping into a stubby lead and kick.
Tuesto pres. Allure - Ever Enough
label: In Trance We Trust
135bpm, key 2A
Begins with simple percussion before dropping into a bigger kick and a unique Tiesto sounding baseline. Strings and pads build over the intro and become stronger and bigger until the breakdown. The pads subside and a big arpeggiator lead filters up over 64 beats and lets loose with the kick and percussion at the drop. Big main room trance here. Tiesto is back!
Andy Tau - Late Nights (Akira Kayosa & Eldritch Project Remix)
label: Deepblue Records
138bpm, key 9A
Beautiful melodic trance. Simple yet effective. Launches into some nice subtle plucks and offbeat baseline. The pluck line builds with subtle changes in the baseline. The breakdown drops into the plucks which eventually become the lead with big pads in the background. Drops into everything playing. Great middle range melodic trance.
Misja Helsloot vs PMW - Ass You Wish (Akira Kayosa & Pete Drury Remix)
label: Yakuza
138bpm, key 12A
Big uplifting trance. Launches into a driving baseline with subtle rolling plucks. Takes a short break then introduces the baseline progression before dropping into the breakdown. A huge supersaw arpeggiator lead builds and eventually drops into the full baseline and percussion. Oldschool, uplifting trance. Peaktime for sure.
Activa - Sniper
label: Discover
140bpm, key 12A
Big driving tech trancer. Starts off with a big rolling baseline and sharp percussion, and continues this way with subtle breaks and fills during the intro. The breakdown is minimal with a subtle filtering of all elements before building back up with more of the same. This is quality filler material, great for bridging between melodic and more percussive tech trance.
Soundlift - On A Mission
label: Blue Soho
140bpm, key 2A
Thanks to Taste Of Trance front man Doughnut for bringing this one to our attention. Big room trance. Launches into a big offbeat baseline with lush plucks and rolling synths. Builds into the baseline progression as the rolling synths become stronger. The breakdown is beautifully epic with lush pads at the start leading into a piano/synth line before eventually kicking into a lead solo with a beautiful progression. It drops into a kick drum tease, then rebuilds back into the full thing with everything going. Peaktime destruction!
