Our first in a new series of Random Member Interviews has arrived. 'In The Laser Light' is a feature article about getting to know your fellow Trancetribers. This week... member 'fiasco'!

Each instalment of 'In The Laser Light' will focus on a different Trancetribe.com member, chosen at random and will feature similar questions each time. So, without further babble, here's our first instalment with member 'fiasco'.

How you first came to listen to Trance music?
When I was younger I would listen to dance compilations and I also had an older mate who played all styles of EDM. After a while I realised that certain songs stood out to me so I researched and found that these tracks were all ‘trance’.

What is it about trance music that you enjoy?
Mainly it’s emotive qualities but also its ability to be diverse and the way that it can bring a whole dance floor together without prejudice.

Your first trance music experience in a club, and how was it?
I had been to raves and such before going to an actual nightclub so it was probably at one of those that I experienced my first dose of live trance. As for a nightclub I think it was at Gas Nightclub in Sydney and the vibe in the middle of the floor was great.

How your tastes have changed since you started listening?
When I first got into EDM I was more focused on the energy of the music so I was listening to more hard trance than anything. However, over the years I have become to appreciate the finer details and listen to basically all styles of trance now even right down to the much slower progressive.

Favourite Track of all time?
I will never be able to answer this question. There have just been too many great tunes produced over the years.

Your favourite places to go out to listen to trance music?
In Sydney there are currently no regular trance nights so in terms of a place I guess it’s wherever I know there will be good tunes and a good crowd. Rather than a place I more look for which crews are putting on good parties at the time.

What would be your dream event, including lineup and venue?
Location would be somewhere naturally beautiful. Crowd would be open-minded and laidback. Music would range through all styles of trance and lineup would include artists such as Ferry, Underworld, Orbital, Armin van Buuren, J00F, Liquid Soul, Protoculture, Simon Patterson, Union Jack, Above & beyond, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Solarstone, Christopher Lawrence, Hybrid, etc etc.

What do you think of the current state of the trance scene in Australia and your local city?
I think the trance scene in Australia is pretty good as a whole. Sydney at the moment is lacking a bit in my opinion but there are still good parties from time to time. I would prefer to see more big nightclub nights rather than all of the festivals we have at the moment though.

What's the best thing about being in the trance scene?
Knowing that when I go to a trance gig I will be amongst people who are usually easy going, friendly and passionate about the music.

What's the worst thing about being in the trance scene?
Probably having to put up with people who consider trance a dirty word with no real knowledge of the genre.

Beer, Spirits, Juice or Water?
Mainly beer but if it’s a big night beer -> spirits.

Stay out all night, or head home early?
All night.

Tell us one thing about yourself that makes you unique?
Nothing that I can think of, but if you ask my mates it’s probably my ghost-like ability to disappear and re-appear hours later usually because I am just following my ears.

Your favourite Trancetribe Member and why?
Probably Scottie or Rossco due to their enthusiasm for trance.

If trance was a religion, and an 11th commandment was created for it, what would it be?
Thou shall not destroy the classics for profit.
